#47, for all the Shopfitters

For about half an afternoon back in 1986 after I'd first read about The Smiths "Shoplifters" single in an NME I had it in my head it was called "Shopfitters Of the World Unite" and until a friend laughed at me and pointed out the correct song title ( later that day ) I thought ( having not even heard the single at that point ) that Moz was off on some rant about people who dress up shop windows in department stores. Aah the great unwritten Moz epic.

With the Isrealites single I must confess buying this after I heard Patrick Gibson warbling away on the Systematics version !

The Young Docteurs were from Canberra and the song featured today is from a 3 track ep they had, a song which often featured on Shane Collier's Saturday show on 2SER-FM in Sydney in the early 80's. A show of great influence to my musical tastes I must add.

The Blue Nile single is actaully from a double pack, the "main single" in the pack being "Stay" but I always preferred Tinseltown...not that Stay is bollocks mind you, just I could only play one.

The Models 7 is a UK release of this song, which of course features Mark Ferrie on vocals but thankfully Sean Kelly pops up in the chorus !!

enjoy :)
