#111 - legs up Shep !!

this one's for "Shep" the English umpire who used to habitually life his leg while "the old dart" were "on Nelson" ( 111 )...go Shep...may ye rest in peace with yer leg up matey

All pretty self evident today I believe, 'cept maybe Stray Dags who were a Sydney all girl group ( including down the recording / producing of the song )...everyone else I'm sure is familiar...so enjoy it ( like Shep )

#110

I said I'd be back really quickly...

I looked at the box and figured there's no point them sitting around my floor doing nothing...so here we go again

Kicking off with Dennis Bovell producing Orange Juice, a non album single, then the promised ( on #101 ) 3rd single from Serious Young Insects, this time featuring lead vocals from drummer Mark White ( see also The Champagne Edge on #70 ).

The Monkey Run from Manchester also featured earlier on #95, todays is the 2nd single.

Fruit Pastilles were on the same label ( Native Tongue ) as Serious Young Insects, only by means of a compilation called "Undiscovered" which was put out by Melbourne radio station 3XY featuring various Melbourne bands, the single today has "Product" by China on the other side, also on the comp ( check out Discogs for more info on this comp )

The Spy v Spy one is the first single ( via Green Recs ) ( way back in the day, before they added the extra "v" to their name ! ). The Plunderers is their second single ( on a Citadel offshoot, not surprisingly under the guidance of a certain Mr R Younger ). Sadly Melbourne legend Peter Lillie is no longer with us having passed away late last year. Although it's not mentioned anywhere on the single seems Roland Howard, Mick Harvey & Phil Calvert all played on the record.

As always enjoy :)

#109

Hi again, starting off with our old Scottish buddies, Jesse Garon & The Desperadoes - albeit under their other moniker Rote Kapelle ( with the overhang into The Fizzbombs ) - quite spookily we also have an Adam Faith track for your "experience" today.

Plus a few Aussie efforts, Arctic Circles from Melbourne ( prod by Lobby Loyde ), Curious Yellow ( prd by Steve Kilbey ) ( another single from them coming up very soon ) and Afterglow ( also Melbournians ).

see you again really soon with more, just looked in the box and there are heaps to come, and I seem to have been "dragging the chain" lately

meantime hope you like this one ;)
